L. B. Mckay Fine Art Gallery - Artist
                 Welcome
L.B. Mckay was born in Chihuahua, Mexico. Now she lives  and works in El Paso, Texas. The artist obtained her BFA at The University of Texas at El Paso. Mckay works mostly with the figure in which the artist depicts her own philosophy besides investigation of a subject matter to evoke serious thought provoking in her work.Trhoughout the painting process she hopes to find answers too many of the social, political and religious issues that she questions.

In her new series of work that Mckay is presenting at The Chamizal Memorial Los Paisanos Gallery she had to do the transition from the "darker palette" of her recent paintings to the lighter, more colorful images she painted for the exhibit. They're mostly depictions of kids swinging at piñatas and still lifes of piñatas they found in local shops, with original touches, such as geometric shapes.

This show celebrates the piñata with a multimedia exhibit that combines artist L.B. McKay’s original paintings with photographs and video shot in collaboration with photographer Matt Scullin. The exhibition will include piñatas designed by the artists in an installation. The opening reception will feature the artwork, a discussion of the history and cultural significance of the piñata, and the debut of a documentary film.
